Welcoming our 2024/2025 Summer Internship Programme
On Monday, 18 November the Government Health and Safety Lead’s Summer Internship Programme started. This year we welcomed eight interns with three located in Auckland and five in Wellington who are placed across seven public sector agencies.
We would like to acknowledge this intern cohort as this is the first time we have had a cohort that covers two geographically separate groups. The programme is in its eighth year and continues to increase our 100+ intern count to showcase the wide variety of career opportunities available in health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) within the public sector.
This programme is an important graduate initiative which supports capability and capacity across our HS&W workforce and has been designed to attract and grow a pipeline of future H&SW practitioners for the public sector. This three-month internship programme provides our interns with a mixture of valuable on the job experience, learning events and workshops to develop their H&SW knowledge and support them with their intern projects.
The GHSL would like to thank our seven agencies participating in this year’s programme (listed below) for their commitment and support to enable us to increase the sectors capability in Health, safety and wellbeing.
